It depends on which interface you are using.
With mine (FIBS/W), it under Options / Color Preferences.

Most backgammon games I found on the internet didn't give me enough freedom of movement. You would roll the dice, click on the piece you wanted to move and the computer would do the rest. If there were more than 1 possible move the computer decided, not you! So I decided to create my own.
