Two off the midpoint seems to result in the least wastage.  I doubt there's much difference between the various  plays.

i was going to suggest to roman we played out the race online, with me deciding the herd's moves.

i then looked at this roll again and then at the gnu hints  -- i was very surprised by its order of choice and though the figures quoted for equity and difference are small -- they often are for other moves too.

this made me decide to keep the polls going, and i will be very interested in your comments.

i will post the order and equities once the poll is closed
