i would play 8-5 (2) 13-7* as this does 2 good things,  it hits his checker and takes away half of his next roll and it makes our golden point. like the att commercial, doing 2 good things is better than doing 1 good thing (13-7* 2)

I'm not sure which is best here, so when in doubt make the 5 point.  Then whacking his checker on the7 looks better than the other alternatives.
