Title: Game 2, move 1, dorbel to play 5-4
Post by: Zorba on July 08, 2010, 08:30:22 AM
dorbel leads 4-0 to 5, Crawford game, and has a 5-4 opening roll to play. I'll take it I can skip the picture this time  :)

24/20, 13/8 is the standard play here and I'll go with that.

XG's opening book:

Spoiler

The split is probably correct, but at this quasi-DMP score running is interesting too. Two down is more of a gammonish play and therefore, most likely, inferior at this matchscore.

I knew that running 24/15 was close, but nobody ever plays it, don't know why! I never do. I often play 13/8, 13/9 at other scores though. It is technically incorrect but draws lots of mistakes with the replies.
