The usual play is 24/18 13/11. But we want a gammon here, and the major split makes the 13/11 more risky than usual. That said, 6's are duplicated with this play, so it can't be too bad.
Dorbel has slotted the golden point, so it makes sense to knock him off it. Gammons do not hurt us any more than single point losses, so lets seize the initiative by playing 13/5*.

As explained in a later thread, gammons are hardly relevant for us here, but the loose hit is still best because it clearly wins most games. It's often correct to hit your opponent off your fivepoint in the early game. 24/16 is not too bad, just a simple running play at DMP with a bonus of duplicating fours for dorbel (24/20 and hit), but we can do better here.
