Spoiler
volunteering a shot with 7/1 seems silly, so let's just dismiss that.

The question then becomes whether to leave the blot on the 21 or the 20.  Seems to me that leaving it on the 20 is superior. We still need to get our checkers out of there and a checker on the 21 needs a six to leap, while a checker on the 20 can leap with a 5 or a 6.  Granted, staying on the 21 gives us threes to play, but we can eat threes easier than fives (for example, imagine dance 55 vs dance 33 - one crunches the other doesn't).

Also, leaving the blot on the 20  duplicates ones - not a big factor, but worth mentioning.
