Title: XG "extensive" analysis and comments
Post by: Roderick on November 01, 2013, 08:03:25 PM
Well, the herd got a bit lucky but only a bit.

Essentially, the herd played a 10 PR to my 7.

It was interesting.  It was also a bit long and I think I ran out of steam at the end, which showed in my 2 brainfarts in the last game (game 7 - moves 13 and 16 that accounted for 0.320 of my 1.455 in lost equity, without which I played a less than stellar 5.4.)  In retrospect, I realize that playing in a disjointed fashion like this removes some of the in-game awareness of changing equities, which likely leads to misplays, missed cubes and other assorted errors for me and the herd.  I've thought of ways to mitigate this should I ever have the opportunity to play a match like this again.

Thanks for having me.  I look forward to being a member of the herd in the future :-)

For those more used to gnu analysis [and cant read in squiggly lines..]..here is what gnu says..it seems essentially the same.
btw..the whole squiggly thing is why we do the tourney schedule as a screenshot, it is the only way to avoid that.

Overall:

Herds checkerplay was reasonable:

Cube skills..oh dear..Herd must work on this..

Did someone mention the luck?  ;)

Luck rating is not the same as luck.

XG is preferable to GNU - it performs better (error rate), it's faster (rollouts and analysis), nicer GUI, and easier to use.  And all for $50.  It's a very good value.
