Monday's Gladiatorial Combats - Official Thread

Tournament's features :


1- Format :          

Single elimination

2- Match length:

3-pt/7-pt

3- Limits:              

- Minimum rating: 1400
- Minimum experience: 1000

4-Schedule:

Every monday - 18:00 GMT . Registration for the next round begins after finishing the current round. (i.e. registration will be open for 7 days a week)

5- Directors:

Will be decided each week.

6- Delays and drops:

- Each player who logs off after registration in the tournament, or refuses the invitation of his/her opponent, will be given 5 minutes to start his/her match. If s/he fails to do so, a victory shall be awarded for his/her opponent.

- Exept for the final match, all the normal matches shall not exceed 45 mins. If so, the tournament director will award a win to the player who is the favorite.

- Every participant who drops connection 3 times during one match, shall be forfeited.

7- Bot-using issue

- Every participant who suspects of his opponent using a bot during his/her match, can send the match file in .mat format to tournament directors and if after due analysis, it was proven that this was actually the case, the cheater shall be banned for future rounds.

8- Awards

i) Regular points

- 1 point for each participation
- 2 point for each victory
- 3 point for each finalist
- 5 point + 100 NACCI points for each round championship

These points are to be accumulated to decide the monthly and yearly winners who will claim the special points:

ii) Special points

- 50 points + 200 NACCI points for each monthly winner
- "Spartacus Title" + 500 NACCI points for the session winner

I am not natural english speaker nor reader but I think that is the registration for the tourney that is open from monday to monday until the tourney starts.

As it is stated in the tourney rules:

And if I remember well the past discussion on the lenght of the tourney it is a live tourney that starts at 18:00 GMT

When do we register to the 1st tourney? I asked tourneybot but it does not seem to have any tourney created.
So does the registration proces start at 18:00 GMT tonight or is it the time for the fisrt round ?

Abusive behaviour during the 5th round

Unfortunately, we witnessed abusive behaviour from ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER during the last night's MGC tourney. Here I first provide the related documnets and then will probe the issue. Any suggestion and proposal would be greatly appreciated, but please send them via 'private message', either in this forum or in FIBS.

1- Rude comments during the match

As can be seen in the tourney page in NACCI website, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER had been paired with stog in the 1/8 final round:

During their match, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER behaved in a manner that is truely abusive, rude, unfair and in contradiction with sportmanship codes. Here are the complete chat-logs :

As can be seen, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER was whining about the dice all the time which is enough bad, but rude comments targetting his opponent personally is definitely inexcusable. I have marked these with red.

A 2-ply analysis of the match shows that not even stog was not that '####ing lucky', but it was actually the very whining ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER himself who enjoyed a greater share of luck during the whole match:

Nonetheless,I would like to provide a position in which stog (red) got a very lucky roll that actually changed the fate of the match:



I admit this is a lucky roll, but should I remind the very unlucky roll for stog in 17th move of the same game which forced him to leave 2 blots during the bear-off ( Position ID: 3dkAhDC+DQAAAA, Match ID: cIluACAAEAAA) ? Or should I remind the very next roll for ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER which enabled him to hit both checkers? (Position ID: vgIAAN3ZAIQwAA, Match ID : MAFlACAAEAAA) 

Luck does play a roll in BG, and everyone get a same share of it in the long run.

2- Delaying moves on purpose:

After that lucky roll from stog which left no hope for recovering, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER began yet another abusive behaviour: 'delaying moves on purpose', apparantly in a heinous try to revenge. The unfair and deliberate delay was observed by both juanz and blotsalot.

3- Rude shouts

After much delay, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER resigned, but immediately afterwards began sending rude shouts. In one case, he called MGC a 'RIGGED dice tourney' and went on by being rude against DeaDice, who is the co-TD of MGC:

Verdict

So far it has become obvious that ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER :

- Complained about dice in an infair manner

- Called his opponent a 'fucking lucky guy' and also told him that he doesn't 'deserve a ####ing win'

- Called MGC a 'rigged dice tourney'

- Insulted a co-TD of MGC

Well, if ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER really thinks that our tourney has rigged dice, he simply can avoid playing in it from now on. But insulting players and moderators is really intolerable. Because this was the first instance of abusive behaviour, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER is not banned from taking part in the next rounds, but I really hope that he will not repeat this unfair behaviour anymore, as he promised. I would like to run MGC even with 4 players but with no abuse than with 16 players with this degree of unfair behaviour.



PS: As many may know, me and ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER were enemies until quite recently when we become friends and actually yesterday we withdrew our mutual complaints. Thus, this is really not a case that I might take revenge of him.

ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER  also chatted with me after the match and confessed that his behaviour was not true and that he gets upset too quickly. This takes a strong personality and I really hope he will act accordingly which he and his opponents deserve.

The long version: That would be an automatic ban if I were TD. I run tourneys for the pleasure of my "customers". I don't need people fouling the service that I provide by making it an unpleasant experience for any or all of the others. The subsequent apology could earn a second chance but only after I'd inquired into the nature of the offender's relations with others (which I may have witnessed or had direct experience of). If, as seems the case, the person was known to be unpleasant in other contexts then the apology would be taken with much scepticsm. If they had redeeming features (eg. positive contributions to Fibs or, even better, positive contributions to my Paypal account  ) then these would be taken into consideration but, without a sufficiency, the plea would be regretfully turned down.

The short version: No assholes!

There's a playBunny on PartyGammon? Or is it PlayBunny? Maybe they don't make a distinction in capitalisation and if not then, dang!, my name's been nicked. :-( Not that I'm anywhere near exploring what Partygammon's got to offer yet. I'm at too many sites already.

Actually I would be interested in TDing at Fibs but then again I'd also be interested in writing a client, writeing a bot, adding a match archive and all sorts of way too ambitious things! The Bunny part of my name represents a nature that sees me hopping from one thing to another. Dailygammon gets the most out of me, though, I could do more if I wern't such a bunny. ;-)
