Bar/20, 13/7.

"Usually we figure out what we think would make us happy, and then try to make those things happen. But happiness isn't circumstance-dependent. There are people who have every reason in the world to be happy who aren't. There are people with genuine problems who are. The key to happiness is the decision to be happy." - Marianne Williamson

bar-20, 22-16, if the 16 is hit, then there is the option to make the 20 point and play the game differently, if it isnt, it might catch one of those escapees.

factotum

bar-20, 22-16.  Keeping a 3rd checker on the midpoint is a plus.  The only really bad possibility is a double hit.

I am still a bit confused here, why is this roll posted, when we are still voting [until April 10th] on what the forum will move [move 6]..this assumes the hit was done...did we hit a majority or something?

Possibly throwing a spanner in the works, but could the fibsboard forum match be played as a chouette? So we each get our own doubling cubes, we'd have a captain who gets the final decision and the box stays on if they win otherwise the captain then becomes the box?

Maybe it's too complex but it would teach people who to play chouettes and I suspect more than a few fibsters haven't encountered them. To really work it'd need its own site carefully set up for that purpose. Basically we want a sort of version of DailyGammon created specially...

Yeah.. 100 % votes (all 8 ) for the 24/17* in previous topic. So I moved on earlier.

No one has noted so quick comment about this one. The play bar/20 22/16 here is a blunder which I would have made without any thought also. You generally want to get moving from back and not waste moves in your own homefield. It's also counterintuative to take the spare from mid but the position is unusual also. The most important reason is that black (the forum) has many very nice rolls, double shots and point n shots which work perfectly after white brings his checker on silver platter and these shots are followed with powerful cube. So the tactical side is here more important then the general strategy. Noticing the rare case when tactical points overrides good strategy is very hard thing to do and is common error for the very best players I've played against in FIBS.

Yes, this is a surprise to me too, especially the size of the error...

From the bot results it looks like it's mostly the extra gammon losses from 22/16 that make it a bad play.

I guess in hindsight, it's just bad to put that blot into the outfield, when opponent (us, the forum) most likely wants to move his blots in the outfield and create a safer position. Putting the checker on a silver plate, like blitzxz wrote. By creating hits there, you make it much easier for opponent to get safe in the outfield with the bonus of sending a checker to the roof.
