Hey everyone,

I'm new to these forums and the backgammon game and am looking for a bit of help to get ahead with my game. I have been trying to understand how FIBS works but it looks a bit complicated.

Does it hold any advantages to other online backgammon sites (for example, casino-online's version of backgammon)? Do you think it's worth my time to just dig in and work out the kinks in FIBS to get started with it?

Thanks for your time guys :)

Fibs is the best all around backgammon site on the net.  If you are a social person, it's best because of the shout feature.   :)  If you are a good player, you will find the some of the best players in the world there!     So, in answer to your question.............YES!

You will find many helpful threads on this site, but the best client to download and get started with is javafibs, and you will find help with that on this site.  Read a book or two about backgammon and you're good to go.

Use Repbot to help avoid droppers, avoid phone users, and have fun!

Hi buttercup and welcome to FIBSBoard.
FIBS isn't complicated.
First get yourself an interface.
You can find one right for you at www.fibs.com
Scroll down a bit to Connecting, and then see which one you need.
You will find Software for Windows, Mac, others or directly telnet
Once you d/load your software, log in to FIBS.
There is help available by typing HELP in the command line.
Then you can get help on any command.
If you need any help, there are plenty of nice people on FIBS who would be glad to help you out.
Good luck and HAVE FUN!!!!

i'd recommend javafibs as the client you use to connect to FIbs, but there are many other good clients too

Welcome to FIBS, buttercup. If you really want to learn backgammon, and have great fun whilst doing so, I'd argue FIBS is by far the best site on the net. The original First Internet Backgammon Server and still the best backgammon server!
