As I havent found rkb in person, the next move is here.

The forum rolled 4-1 and took two off, rkb, white, to move 4-2

Well, I'm stumped.

I can't for the life of me come up with a good recommendation for rkb to move.

The 8 6 is compulsory. 8 4 wastes less points than 13 9 and fills a gap - next!

Please folks, use spoilers, let him make his own decision without subliminally reading yours

He can read yours in full afterwards.

For information spiel, when racing to save the gammon you must never waste pips bearing in past the 6pt until it is forced. As you say, 8/6 is mandatory, but 13/9 is the 4, wasting no pips and giving you good threes later. With one roll to go, an opportunity to be clever and fill the 4pt may present itself, but his isn't it.

So, it is quite useful to play out this seemingly straightforward end game - for all

13/9, 8/6 My goal is 2 crossovers per move.  If there are no doubles then that should do it for me.  Ill take some more doubles, however since it would speed things up.

The important thing is to maximize transitions, and favor transitions into the innerboard over other transitions.

I was eyeing  13/11 13/9 because it provides two transitions while maximizing the throws that give a transition next roll.  But, what really counts is transitions into the inner board, so it's better to play 8/6 now rather than positioning yourself to do so later.  The four is then played from the 13 since anything else wastes pips.

I'll punch this into gnu and see if there's much difference....
