Lots of options for the Herd with this one... finding the exact right one might be a bit tricky  ;) Let us know your reasoning!

10/6 leaves us vulnerable to a future double 5 whereas 12/9 10/9    allows us to move more safely

We have to get out before a dbl 5 could hurt us.  We still have time to cover or run with our next roll.  I'll stick with 10/6.

no i meant that if we rolled a 55 next time..we leave a hit if we play 10/6 this time round

Spoiler
Again, I'm looking for a roll that would leave us safe from 33 and not break up with our three big doubles.

Anything not starting with 10/9 leaves the 33 shot on.
17/14 10/9, 12/9 10/9, 10/6 and 10/9 8/5 all fail badly with a 55.
So we can't achieve that aim.

Given that White 33 and White non-33 - Blue 55 are almost equally likely, opening the 6 point gives White other options to get back in the game, and gammons either way don't count, I'd rather leave the 33, so I'm going to pick an option that leaves all doubles fine: 17/14 12/11.
