Backgammon => Using backgammon software => Topic started by: Pinbacker on March 01, 2015, 05:43:03 PM
Hi.
I would like to buy a backgammon software.
- It needs to be able to analyze my games that I play on the internet
- I must be able to play some matches against it
- It needs to be as strong as possible, the stronger the better
- The backgammon board that it displays needs to have black and white checkers (brown is still acceptable I guess... but I want absolutely no red!)
So, which backgammon software is the best?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
The industry standard is ExtremeGammon2, https://www.extremegammon.com/ (https://www.extremegammon.com/) , about $50.
Gnubg plays almost as well and is free, but XG has a much nicer interface and its storage of your data is unbeatable.
I am hesitating between Snowie 4 and ExtremeGammon 2. What are the differences between these two softwares? Which one should I buy?
Snowie is old tech, EG is the most recent. It's like comparing Windows 95 to Win 8.

Snowie is ten years out of date and as far as I can tell, no longer supported! Even if it is the same price as XG, which I doubt, it would be stupid to buy it. XG is it.
