The answer to Question 8 of Chris' Christmas Quiz - What strange event put backgammon in the public eye in the Bahamas this year? - turned out to be that a game/chouette ended in murder – see this press clipping:

Nassau man shot and killed over backgammon game - Police are requesting the public's help in locating a male suspect responsible for a shooting incident that has left one man dead and another in hospital on Wednesday 4th September 2013.
According to reports, shortly before 2:00pm, the victim was playing a game of backgammon with a group of men midway through Fowler Street, when he got into an altercation with one of the men who fired several shots, hitting him and another man. The victim succumbed to injuries at the scene and the other man was taken to hospital via private vehicle, where he is detained in serious condition. Investigations are ongoing.
