Fascinating. I rejected 23/18 as being weak! Superficially it looks as if staying back creates extra problems for the side bearing in, but actually only 6-1 for White leaves a shot next turn and even that puts us on the roof! The rest of the time White points on us, plays safe (sometimes making another point) or clears her anchor. Effectively, because White has so many active builders, our blot is more of a target than a defender.
Staying back and making the 5pt is equally likely to win the game, but loses a lot more gammons. 11/5 is a large error.
