We trail in the race so stepping out can't be right, Particularly as it lifts the threat to White's blot. 8/2, 23/22 slots a point that we don't want and burns a builder for the 5pt. 8/1 is so horrible it should have a paper bag over its head. I have added 11/5, 11/10 to the ballot, slotting a good point, duplicating threes and leaving a blot that Red will often eschew hitting in any case.
