Dixville is in!

In a historic vote this morning in the village of Dixville Notch, NH, the traditionally Republican enclave near the Canadian border has gone Democratic. The tally, according to CNN, is Barack Obama - 15, John McCain - 6,  thus marking the first time in 40 years the town picked a Democrat. The last time was 1968, when Dixville picked Hubert Humphrey over Richard Nixon.

Roll over, Lyndon, it's a landslide.

While I remain nauseously nervous, even optimistic, it should be an interesting 24 hours. I'll be working at Democratic HQ here in my little town in solidly Republican Texas. But we'll be up until the wee hours with me serving drinks as the bartender for either the celebration or the wake.  So, y'all chime in and vote, express an opinion, or tell your story from election day.
My hangover, from whatever cause, should be over by Thursday!  :s49:

p.s. I invited about 150 fellow fibsters, friends and contacts, to cast their vote here. That is about twice the population of Dixville Notch. It will be interesting to see how many votes we get. Maybe we can lobby for an electoral vote for the winner of this poll. In a close race, that may be needed ;)

I didn't decide who I would vote for until I was in the voting booth.   :)

BREAKING NEWS
Montgomery, Alabama

According to Wired News, "An Alabama woman got an out-of-state delivery last week that she never ordered -- a Diebold touch-screen voting machine from neighboring Georgia." The machine was mysteriously left in the driveway of her residence in Russell County, Alabama. Within hours upon arrival home, the Alabama woman sold it to an ex-boyfriend, a Montgomery businessman/musician, who successfully reprogrammed it as a musical keyboard. The first tune created, GOD BLESS THE USA, was intended for use by the Alabama Republican party for a McCain/Palin victory celebration scheduled for tonight and centered on the steps of the Alabama capitol building. However, sound tests earlier today revealed the system had been hacked by a local ACORN community organizer resulting in a reggae version of Bob Marley's BAPTISM complete with new lyrics and titled WE WANT OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT. The Montgomery businessman/musician was last reported fleeing Alabama disguised as John Wayne but wearing pink tights. An all points bulletin has been issued by the State Police and a reward offered. Dog The Bounty Hunter is said to be in hot pursuit with film crew in tow. Stay tuned for future developments.
