Has anyone found out how hes is doing, last heard he was seriously ill? My thoughts are with him...

socksey

I haven't heard anything more.     I did leave another message on his answering machine today, so maybe I'll hear something, and if I do, I'll post it here.   ;)

"A 'No Parking' sign at a certain location means..." - multiple choice question on NY State learner's permit test (In Louisiana, when I applied for a drivers license there, part of the driver's test was in pictures because of the high illiteracy rate in that state.)

Manxcat and I each got a phone call from sixty_something a week or so ago.  He's alive and well!     Well, except for a little depression, that is.   :unhappy:  His mom has been moved to a nursing home, he has no internet, and he was thinking of going to South Dakota to help the kitty fix up the hotel.   :)

If you happen to read this Ron in the next few days, GO to Manx and help her.
Or even better, socksey pls. call him and tell him what I just said!  :thumbsup2:
Helping people is tricky. Give help to anyone and he will remember it only when he is in need again.

i just noticed this, thanks to a link by socksey .. my hearts cockles have been warmed several times already by the many friendly greetings i have had since reconnecting at FIBS .. this just does it again

no, i was not ill nor morbidly depressed .. i got very busy with a new job and needed to disconnect all my other on-line activies until that ended .. when it did, my mother's situation began deteriorating rapidly and my financial situation was so uncertain that i chose to remain unplugged from the internet for a while .. it is amazing how quickly a few weeks can turn into a few months and even a year .. regardless, i had some very interesting experiences while being unplugged .. for example, i began reading and enjoying newspapers again .. i spent an inordinate amount of time becoming familiar with baseball again .. i even enjoyed the absense of over-stimulation so easily found on-line

there were days and times that were not so easy, particularly relating to my mother's condition and the impact it has had on my family, such that remains .. my mother, btw, died last month in mid-April .. at the time of her death she was surrounded by her three loving grandchildren, my children, who meant the world to her .. so, i trust she went peacefully .. i know she was surrounded with love .. her quality of life had deteriorated so much that it was time for her to go .. nonetheless, there are times (almost daily), when i wish she were still here .. during the few years we had together before her condition began to deteriorate, we established a deeper relationship than we had ever had before .. i am very grateful for that

however, once she entered the downward spiral and seemingly endless cycle of hospitals, nursing homes, ER's, and wound care centers (for a bedsore that would not heal), i could not bear to see her again until the last month of her life and then only for brief periods of time .. but others in my family, like my sister and my children, stepped forward and provided that which i could no longer

all that is behind me now .. now, i am very grateful to have this little wacky family of friends and fellow fibsters in my life again and, if i keep playing, maybe someday i can even shout a friendly hello again  soon :thumbsup2:
