I find the initial post not funny, but deeply offensive and would ask, in the interests of decency, for it's removal.

Garp,
i too found the first joke a little offensive, which is why i made the comment i made. The basis of the joke, that the isreali were in the land first, therefore they are entitled to kick out those living there now, is not funny in my opinion. The demeaning picture of the "smart jew" and the "dumb palistinian", is also not funny, but let me stress this, in my opinion.
try using these jokes as way to discuss things instead of simply demanding that something be done because your feelings were hurt, it will go a lot further.

(IMHO)

oh, by the way, most of the american indian jokes i found funny, because i side with the indian, but i'm sure many americans would find them just as offensive, for the same reason you found the first one offensive. No one called for them to be removed.

The first joke was flat, not very funny and in the context of the conflict, unhelpful. Offensive? Well we seem to have found somebody with sensibilities even more finely tuned than mine!  Can this really be the fibster whose shouts at Tanika shocked 99% of all known fibsters? Apparently it can.

socksey

Gee, when I post that joke, I found it quite funny.     I'm afraid I wasn't thinking of sensibilities at all.     I think this is what the world needs more of.................less cricism/sensibility and more sense of humor!

On the contrary, I find ethnic jokes quite fun and accept them in the manner they are given.   B)

When I was a child, I was offended when I was called "nigger lips".     When I grew up, I realized that was a compliment to my sexy lips.   :)  I think when we grow up, we can laugh at ourselves.

Here's another fun thought for the day:  Never hold your farts in!  They travel up your spine into your brain and that's where shitty ideas come from!!!!

The difference between the Israeli/Palestinian joke and the Native American/others jokes should be obvious. The first is the powerful sneering at the weak and by implication portraying them as stupid. I can well imagine that an Arab would find it distasteful, although not very important. The second group is the powerless jeering at the strong, their right through the ages. I can't believe that any American would be even remotely offended by them!

RickrInSF

Most americans don't believe in evolution, don't know the sun is a star, and "patriotism" is rampant in this country, why can't you believe some americans would be offended by those jokes?

RickrInSF

oh, and before people start going off on me being unamerican, i'm not. I think the USA has the best people in the world, and it has the worst. Being critical of who we are is part of being american.

jackdaddy

Sorry socksey, "nigger lips" is offensive no matter the context.

socksey

Hey, jackdaddy, did anyone call you any offensive names when you were growing up?
