Answering to a different subject, Soksey suggests that a ban on ParlorPlay is being considered as a solution to new upcoming bad behaviours from thoso far too frequent jerks that profit from PP's IP masking feature.

I must remark, though, that among its many peculiar features ParlorPlay has this unique  advantage to operate in plain http mode on the side of the player. As many of us discovered, this is the ONLY way to play FIBS from intranets that sport Telnet blocking filters by means of firewalls, protocol limitiations etc. (typcally, corporate networks).

As a matter of fact, I love to play a few matches on FIBS daily, during my lunch hour, from my office. This is only possible via ParlorPlay, and there's nothing anyone can do to change this situation (execpt maybe my company's network admin, with whom I prefer not to raise the subject of internet-based entertainment....).

Should ParlorPlay interface be banned, I would definitely lose my preferred opportunity to play on FIBS, and I guess many others from around the world would too.

"We, the many people working in cruel corporations that jeopardize our fundamental right to have fun on the internet while at work, pray the FIBS gods that our humile and pityful way to acces FIBS from our mourning office desks is not deactivated, lettin us suffer the pains of a whole day of uniterrupted production without a healthy break..."

You cant stop all cheaters but i think getting rid of parlor play would help close one avenue.

I understand that some people cant play from work , because of firewall and such , i would hold the belief there are not that many .

But i think also Patti is working with Rod so he can make isp of players avaible to Patti and she could keep track of people playing their own accounts .

I for one will never play a player logged on thru parlor play , i dont think any serious fibster will;

Sorry but parlor play must go its abused to much and to often with no over site by Rod

I have reported a few problem players to Rod across my time here - and he has always dealt with them IMMEDIATELY - he is courteous and helpful - which is more than can be said for everyone  ;)

There are many respected FIBS players who started out through parlorplay - even if they arent still there - ask greenlady  :D ( and I am sure vic played her when she was still on PP :P )

I think the number of people using parlorplay for loggin in 'away from home' is greater than you think - though what puzzles me is why??  I find the client almost unusable!!  I miss messages, can either see shouts and cant invite, or can invite and cant see shouts - it drives me potty!!

However - I do think it has a place - and just like every aspect of fibs - if you pick your opponents with a little thought - you shouldn't encounter too many problems.
