So, the FIBSBoard forum is Blue and we play clockwise from top-left to bottom left!

All info is in the screenshot below.

Much as a don't want to abandon the midpoint, I don't see how it's avoidable.  Anything else leaves a blot, without doing anything constructive.

13/9(3) 6/2

Our position is not looking so hot, but at least we're still ahead in the race....

Well, that isn't the 55 I ordered!!    Ok, what to do with this...

Spoiler
I am with ah_clem, in that moving from the midpoint is pretty much all we have...hence my vote!

I concur with 13/9(3) 6/2!  I couldn't see anything better to do with this.

I think a better version of that line would be "All info is in the blurry bits at the bottom of the screenshot below. You wanna read it? Then get squinting!". :D

Maybe we should just do plain text and be done with it?  If bandwidth is an issue, it's the way to go, and it's easy to get gunbg to generate it.  It's certainly readable...

There is another solution. It's one that I've been kind of reluctant to put forward because the url isn't going to stand the test of time. It's on an ISP account holder webspace rather than a dedicated domain and that won't remain the ISP of choice forever. However it works and has worked and will work for a good while yet. ;-)

http://www.gellie.plus.com/DG_Extras/MakeBoard/ShowBoard.htm?MatchId=cAmyABAAAAAA&PosnId=sLsZAQOznMEBBg

The board dispay is customisable with a set of various nice boards and there are several sizes for each. I use the other backgammon standard for direction of play ;) so the home table is on the right but that can be changed too. Use the buttons on the right to make the changes. Board preferences are stored in a cookie so if you tightly control which sites are allowed cookies (as I do) you'll need to enable them if you want your preferences remembered.

@Zorba: If you add the above url to your poll posts (replacing the match id and position id appropriately) then everyone can have what they want (except our esteemed opponent. I haven't yet added flipping of the board around to see the opponent's view). If you don't want to be fiddling with the url directly, you can change the Ids in the board display page and the [Display] button will give you the new url which you can then copy out. With the new combined GnuBg Id, paste it into the Position Id box and ignore the Match Id.

(There are options to set the names of the players and add a non-standard comment to go above the board but I won't detail that unless you're interested.)

I am not so happy about a non permanent record attached to these matches.  It would be hard to follow later without some kind of a board to look at.

My solution - which stog has given me permission for  - is to put up a large, very easy to see board up while we vote, but then I will scale it down and save it as a teensy one which future generations can squint at  ;)  Together with the match ID, that should allow ongoing appreciation of our musings

Meanwhile, since this vote seems decided, and since I have now fathomed how to do all this in preparation for hosting the next match...I could 'next' this if we want that...

i like that each forum match officiator has an individual approach to preparing/uploading the positions (adjusted/affected by us fibsboarders) ..this is  great.
however the text and diagrams need to be on this server and not reliant on a 3rd party website link which may not be there in future years and on whose speed we would then be affected by.

as the games and matches mount up, the space taken by the diagrams adds up, and although we have so-called unlimited space, i perform local backups here on my home system which is not unlimited! therefore we need to keep picture files reasonable sizewise. this has been achieved so far.

if the diagram contains small text which is unreadable then the text must be typed/pasted in seperately from time to time, to allow for future readings. (diane's solution is fine for her, and will allow future reading of the matches she officiates as long as she occasionally types/pastes in the score, and who is who etc)

Hello,

Thanks to the fact that I can now see the results and it looks like 13/9(3) 6/2 is the winner,

NO DOUBLE and let the dice roll!

If the other move that had a vote would've have won....I dont think I could have left that cube on my side.

[removed my GABBI diagram post above, to which this was a reply - Zorba]

It is nice and clear - but again quite big - twice the size of what you usually post.  You could probably achieve something just as clear if you made it twice as big  ;)

Quick&dirty rollout of our 4-4:

Spoiler

13/9(3) 8/4 is the alternative move, it's not too far behind since rkb usually has to take some risks hitting that blot. Also, making our fourpoint gives us a much stronger homeboard for a hitting contest than 6/2 with two innerboard blots. Still, it's just too costly to leave a direct here.
