Well, we did it! Starting a little later than advertised at 0822 UTC on Friday 19th, I and my wonderful partners played backgammon continuously for 24 hours on Fibs. We played 205 games and so far we have received donations to Sport Relief totalling £325! Some people have promised to pay based on the number of games won and that was 113. Sport Relief as a whole has so far raised over £29,000,000 and it is a privilege to part of that.

If you haven't yet donated, please go to http://www.mysportrelief.com/backgammon , where you can donate directly online by a variety of ways. Please do this. Sport Relief raises money for people all over the world living disadvantaged lives; "disadvantaged" being a mild term for the conditions that some people live with constantly, such as having your home on a rubbish tip or beside a malarial river. They (Sport Relief) do this with a wide variety of micro projects and you can read about these on the site.

A huge thank you to the very generous people who have donated so far. They are Robert Jan-Veldhuisen, Steve Morris, Nora Kagiannis, Marie Natale, Dave Corbett, James Dwyer, Lucy Pesaro, Penelope Seitler, James Allen, Jon Treadwell, Callum Meikle, Naomi Hussey and Cecilia McGuire. Thank you is indeed hardly adequate for your generosity and I applaud you all.

Thank you too to those of you who stay and played and encouraged me through a long night, notably but not exclusively, ah_clem (15 games) , manxcat (14), RickRinSF (38), scuba (17) and stiefnu (17). I owe you and all the others I haven't mentioned, a big debt of friendship. Heroes all.

Last, but by no means least, a big thank you to mrs dorbel, for encouragement, support, tea and sympathy, entirely beyond the call of duty. I think I'll take a week off backgammon, as the least that she deserves.!

And yet more sponsors to thank, Nigel Cobb, Grace Paton, anonymous and Sue McDowell. Thank you very much all of you. We have had donations from the USA, France, Spain, Scotland, Holland and Dubai as well as England of course. The Internet is a wonderful thing and if you feel like joining in, please go to http://www.mysportrelief.com/backgammon , there's plenty of time to contribute!
Total so far, £373. Worth a sleepless night!

That was a lot of fun, playing serial one-pointers and getting clobbered repeatedly by a much better player.

We'll have to do it again sometime. (c:

Excuse me for having given sooo late. I added a small amount of £15 into the stocking, pushing the levels up to presently £433.65. Thx dorbel for you efforts.
