As always with these, there are heaps of permutations..you know how it works

Looks like the right play to me.  The Herd should play to maintain contact and build their board and this play does both.  leaving a checker on the 17 serves on purpose other than to turn a couple of otherwise bad shakes for me (61 51) into good rolls.
