Dear Friends,

I'd like to tell you about an amusing but still troublesome, which have happened 2 me during the Friday 3 tourney today.

I was planned to play with BushSucks but got from him the following message:

BushSucks: as a matter of political protest against the behavior of your government, I do not want to play with you in this fridays3.
BushSucks: sorry, but I really do not appreciate what I see in the news. i am serious.

In no relation if he is right or not (as we all know you wont buy a used car just on what published at the media:)) , this message & especially that it comes along with the Olympics games, which put on its basics the saying that we should separate between politics & sports seems very much not in its place (BushSucks message)

I wonder if our nice & out of the broblematic life world has come to its end...  I hope not!

Greetings

ronen

Ouch.
I'd say somebody's gone overboard. While I (from Old Europe) do not really value all said and done by American Leaders (not that I fully support our leaders, too...) I guess this is not what is supposed to happen on FIBS.
Also, just embarassing one person from a country, without knowing whether s/he supports his/her government is just ridiculous and only spurs bad feelings. I'd wager the name chosen is enough to express ones oppinion.

Hi ronen,

What? You haven't been out to raid the White house and force GW to resign? ;)

Well, don't bother and move on. I just hope you got the match win without any problems.

Cheers,

Ah, just stumbled over the fact that you're apparently from Isreal. Please disregard the White house and GW and overthrow Sharon instead. ;)

I'm sure an Israeli appreciates comments of that sort coming from a German. Your country's past regime statistically annihilated all the Jews of western Europe.

If that weren't enough, The German nation and the officials of Munich directly aided the escape of the Palestinian terror group responsible for the murders of the Israeli athletes during that city's Olympics.

Certainly you have better things to concern yourself with than the overthrow of Bush or Sharon.

Well, I wouldn't say they directly aided the escape... It's been more because of very bad planning and absolute inability to handle something like this at that time. In fact, these and the left wing terrorist acts lead to special forces that from then on had to deal with those situations. The police at that time was simply not able to cope with this. Their only experience was using water throwers and bludgeoning against the student protests going on somewhat before that time...

In response to BushSucks's tournament policies, I would like to offer the following opposing points. To address this in a pedantic manner, in the rest of this postr, factual information will be prefaced as such and my own opinions will be clearly stated as opinions. For instance, it is a fact that if BushSucks wants to descend to refusing opponents in tournaments, and later perhaps match dropping, let him wear the opprobrium of that decision.

As it stands, I'm not very conversant with BushSucks's background. To be quite frank, I don't care to be. I already know enough to state with confidence that honor means nothing to BushSucks. Principles mean nothing to BushSucks.

Whatever your rating, you now have only one choice. That choice is between a fair, fun-loving tournament population that, you hope, may illustrate the virtues that BushSucks lacks --  courtesy, honesty, and gamesmanship -- and, as the alternative, the prolix and subhuman dirigisme currently being forced upon us by BushSucks. Choose carefully, because BushSucks ignores the most basic ground rule of fair play. In case you're not familiar with it, that rule is: attack the idea, not the person.
