Odd extras

I was looking at some boards over at www.backgammonhellas.com, and they came with sets of six balls, and something referred to as backgammon dimes. I take it that "dimes" is just another word for the checkers, but what are the balls for?

You need "balls" if you play against top players of the world

I have had a little look about - cant find anything - so someone help us out please!!

The only thing I can think of is that they're a stylish way to keep the checkers one has beared off upright.

Hmm - a possibility - since they are displayed like that.  Seems a bit much though!!

Maybe it's to throw at your opponent when he is winning (or whining)

Here is the explanation.
1.
The six balls that fit on the holders of the backgammon board is a world patent from our company.
Its use is for keeping the players know how many games they win.
(each player takes 1 ball from the holder for every game that he wins) when all the balls are out of the holder , each player try to take the ball from the other in every game that he wins.
The final winner : The player who will have all the six balls on his side.

2. To keep the backgammon chips in place when you close the board

So that's all clear then!
