Today i tryed out an other kind of tournament.

2 bracket's of 4 players who play to get a place in the finals and win my famous Champions Trophy.

This tourney will be played with a realtime updated html page.

Hi Noah,

thx for the new tourney  

It was really interesting, that you have divided players in to 4 players groups (round robin).
Every player gets atleast 3 games, whis is good for everybody. There is a good tournament feeling.
I suggest, that you tune up a bit your shouts during your tourney. Some players were a bit confused during it.

I have thought about 4 brackets with 4 players but i have to get more experienced with fast html editing to organise a tourney for more then 8 fibbers.

Not having to win every match to do well is encouraging.  It's good to have group stages as well as knock-out stages.

I am working on a possibility to create 2 bracket's with 5 or 6 players.
More players can enjoy but the tourney's will be longer. What do others think about that?

Well Iââ,¬â,,¢m going to use combination theory to tell you my opinion. Suppose there are 6 players in each bracket (Players 1-2-3-4-5-6).  Our set in each bracket contains the following matches: Set={(1-2),(1-3),(1-4),(1-5),(1-6),(2-3),(2-4),(2-5),(2-6),(3-4),(3-5),(3-6),(4-5),(4-6),(5-6)} So you have 15 matches for EACH bracket. If you continue the same way of running: two semi-finals and two finals then u are going to have 34 matches in your tourney (15X2 plus 4). If there are 5 players in each bracket then a set of 10 matches in each bracket as (1-6), (2-6), (3-6), (4-6), (5-6) will be deleted from the set. Consequently with the same way of running, you are going to have 24 matches in your tourney.

My opinion is: if you want more players in your tourney with fewer combinations, less time and work (as a TD), then create more brackets . For example if you want 12 players in your tourney then create 3 brackets of 4 players. So you will have 6 matches in each bracket and 22 matches in your tourney (3X6 plus 4 for semi-finals and finals). I want to mention that 22 matches are less than 34, each player plays with fewer opponents and you gain valuable time.

If you want to try this method with 12 players, but there is a problem as 6 players go to the next round instead of 4 like in your current tourney, then you have to decide for an additional rule. One option is the 3 winners of each bracket to go to the next round and the best player from second places. Or an alternative option is to create another one round before semi-finals. So 8 players will go to this round, the 1st and 2nd of each bracket and the two better players from 3rd places. With this technique, you are going to have 4 additional matches but 26 matches are better than 34 of the original plan. This method is used in the football world cup and it is very efficient.  

If you want only 10 players in your tourney your original idea is the best (2 bracket of 5 players and 24 matches). The only welfare loss is that for two more matches (26 in the alternative plan above) you can have 12 players in your tournament.

I like your tourney very much, Noah.

A win in a 1pt match is random by, i think, 45%. To play against each other in one group minimize that randomness. And it's fun to play 1ptrs.

I think, you have a lot of manual work during a tourney with your great web page.

I want to make a suggestion for the informing command.

You can use tell noah beat(lose) "player" "normal,gammon,Bg" instead of
tell noah beat(lose) "player"

So no errors will be created any more
