Some more latest scores as they come in. In Group A, Switzerland have drawn level with Europe 3-3 and Europe lead France 6-2. This group could still be very open, but we will wait and see what happens when the Germans play some more matches. Calling Germany, get playing you chaps!
In group C, GB 6 Sweden 2 is the latest score, also Italy 1 Romania 4 and Sweden 4, Romania 3. Great Britain just need one more win from 3 over Romania to qualify from this group.
Group D has seen the least action so far. One player has had family staying and two others have had computer troubles, but the family has left jaybird's house and reima is back online, so perhaps we will get going soon. Any news from Anakin's house down under? Where is zare?
Group A
Europe won 1 lost 0 for 11 against 7
Switzerland won 0 lost 0 for 8 against 8
Germany won 0 lost 0 for 5 against 5
France won 0 lost 1 for 7 against 11
Group B
USA2 won 1 lost 0 for 10 against 5
Czech Rep. won 1 lost 0 for 9 against 4
Austria won 1 lost 1 for 9 against 8
Rest of World won 0 lost 2 for 3 against 14
Group C
Great Britain won 2 lost 0 for 14 against 6
Romania won 0 lost 0 for 9 against 9
Sweden won 0 lost 1 for 8 against 13
Italy won 0 lost 1 for 7 against 13
Group D
Finland won 0 lost 0 for 7 against 1
USA1 won 0 lost 0 for 4 against 5
Australia won 0 lost 0 for 1 against 3
Canada won 0 lost 0 for 1 against 4

Some more significant action today in Group B, as Czech Republic, the surprise package of this group clinched victory over Rest of the World and narrowed the deficit in their match with USA2. With 2 wins under their belt, the Czechs are masters of their own fate, as if they can beat USA2, they must top the group. Although they have now lost all their ties, the Rest of the World team might still hold the key to this group, as if the other three teams all finish with 2 wins, then individual matches won will decide. The Rest of the World are to be applauded for their sportsmanship in making up the numbers to a round 16 teams. Thanks resh_lakish, chopos and folkman. We hope that Israel, Mexico and Brazil will have full teams of their own next time.
Latest scores: Rest of the World 1 Czech Rep. 5
USA2 3 Czech Rep. 2
Czech Rep. won 2 lost 0 for 12 agst 5
USA2 won 1 lost 0 for 10 agst 6
Austria won 1 lost 1 for 9 agst 8
Rest of World won 0 lost 3 for 4 agst 16

In Group D, Finland moved into a commanding position today, opening an unassailable 6-1 lead over Canada and widening the gap with Australia to 4-0. As they already lead USA1 4-0 as well, Finland must be long odds to head this group and go into the semi-finals.
Group 4
Finland won 1 lost 0 for 14 agst 1
USA1 won 0 lost 0 for 4 agst 5
Australia won 0 lost 0 for 1 agst 6
Canada won 0 lost 1 for 2 agst 9

In Group C today, Romania took a winning lead over Italy, but lost to Sweden, so their chances of winning this group are now very slim. They need to win all their 7 remaing individual matches while GB lose all their remaining 5.
Scores: Great Britain 6 Italy 2
Great Britain 6 Sweden 2
Great Britain 4 Romania 2
Italy 5 Sweden 2
Italy 1 Romania 5
Sweden 5 Romania 3
Table
Great Britain won 2 lost 0 for 16 agst 6
Romania won 1 lost 1 for 10 agst 10
Italy won 1 lost 2 for 8 agst 13
Sweden won 1 lost 2 for 9 agst 14
This does mean that both Italy and Sweden are certain to be eliminated, but we thank them for their friendly and sporting participation, which has done so much to make this a very pleasant group.
