Great Britain clinched a place in the semi-finals today by completing a 5-2 win over Romania, their third win in this group. Thanks are due to the teams of Sweden, Italy and Romania for their participation in this notably friendly and sporting group and we wish them all beter luck next time.

Scores
Group C
Great Britain 6 Italy 2
Great Britain 6 Sweden 2
Great Britain 5 Romania 2
Italy 5 Sweden 2
Romania 5 Italy 1
Sweden 5 Romania 3

Group A is coming to the boil nicely. With only 7 individual matches remaining, any of three teams can still win the group. If three teams tie with win two wins each, individual matches won will count, so it is very important to complete all the matches with France.

Group B is also still undecided. Will it be USA2 or the Czech Republic? Austria can't qualify, but they still have a part to play and they now lead USA2 4-3.

Austria 6 Rest of the World 3
Czech Rep. 6 Austria 3
USA2 8 Rest of the World 1

Will Groups A and B come down to the last possible match? Today saw the end of Switzerland's brave challenge. Although they can still record 2 wins by beating Germany in their last match, they can't now gain enough individual wins to qualify. However we congratulate them on their effort and thank them for their friendly and sporting participation. Beter Luck next time! With five matches left the scores look like this.

Switzerland 5 France 4
Europe 6 Switzerland 3

Switzerland 4 Germany 4
Europe 6 France 2
Europe 4 Germany 4
Germany 5 France 2

Table
Europe  W 2 L 0 F 16 A 9
Germany W 1 L 0 F 13 A 10

Switzerland W 1 L 1 F 12 A 14
France W 0 L 3 F 8 A 16

Group B is still undecided too, but hte next few matches should clarify it a bit.

Austria 6 Rest of the World 3
Czech Rep. 6 Austria 3
USA2 8 Rest of the World 1

Czech Rep 6 Rest of the World 2
Austria 4 USA2 3
USA2 3 Czech Rep. 2

Table

Czech Rep. won 2 lost 0 for 14 agst 8
USA2 won 1 lost 0 for 14 agst 7

Austria won 1 lost 1 for 13 agst 12
Rest of World won 0 lost 3 for 6 agst 20

Draw for the semi-finals will be on Tuesday 9th of November at 2100 UTC, whether the winners of these groups are known or not.

Group A now looks like this;
Switzerland 5 France 4
Europe 6 Switzerland 3
Germany 5 Europe 4

Switzerland 4 Germany 4
Europe 6 France 2
Germany 5 France 2

Table

Germany W 2 L 0 F 14 A 10
Europe W 2 L 1 F 16 A 10

Switzerland W 1 L 1 F 12 A 14
France W 0 L 3 F 8 A 16

Germany will top the group if they win the deciding match against Switzerland. If they lose that one, then they must win their outstanding matches against France and Europe must lose their last remaining match in order to go through. All clear?

Group A moved on but still is unresolved with just two individual matches to play. Switzerland beat Germany, so now the situation is this. If Europe win their final match against france, they go through. If they lose and Germany win their final match against france, Germany go through!

Group A now looks like this;
Switzerland 5 France 4
Europe 6 Switzerland 3
Germany 5 Europe 4
Switzerland 5 Germany 4

Europe 6 France 2
Germany 6 France 2

Table

Germany W 2 L 1 F 15 A 11
Europe W 2 L 1 F 16 A 10

Switzerland W 2 L 1 F 13 A 14
France W 0 L 3 F 8 A 17

In Group B, still no champion either. With 5 matches left, only the brave would bet on a winner between USA2 and Czech Rep. Numerous permutations of either team winning three or both winning two are possible. Latest scores

Austria 6 Rest of the World 3
Czech Rep. 6 Austria 3
USA2 8 Rest of the World 1

Czech Rep 6 Rest of the World 2
Austria 4 USA2 4
USA2 3 Czech Rep. 3

Table

Czech Rep. won 2 lost 0 for 15 agst 8
USA2 won 1 lost 0 for 15 agst 7

Austria won 1 lost 1 for 13 agst 13
Rest of World won 0 lost 3 for 6 agst 20
