I'm a little confused.  Is the tourney played in real time or does it go on all week?   huh

I am not natural english speaker nor reader but I think that is the registration for the tourney that is open from monday to monday until the tourney starts.

As it is stated in the tourney rules:

Quote
4-Schedule:

Every monday - 18:00 GMT . Registration for the next round begins after finishing the current round. (i.e. registration will be open for 7 days a week)

And if I remember well the past discussion on the lenght of the tourney it is a live tourney that starts at 18:00 GMT

Hope it will help you socksey  Wink

Quote
But I also have a question.
When do we register to the 1st tourney? I asked tourneybot but it does not seem to have any tourney created.
So does the registration proces start at 18:00 GMT tonight or is it the time for the fisrt round ?   wacko

Ok I had my answer in the shouts on Fibs : Registration is now open: tell TourneyBot register 2430
Play starts at 18:00 GMT Shocked

I had a private chat with PersianLord today before the tourney and he said registration begins at 1700, play begins at 1800.   Wink  Tourney is played real live time like usual tourneys on Fibs.   Smiley

Thanks to Frank's kind support, MGC is now also hosted at FLG:

http://fibsleagammon.free.fr/MGC.htm

This will make MGC, even more popular and we can have more fun.

By the way, I would like to continue using this thread as well, if the admins agree as some people are used to check updates here.

Again thank you, Frank.

Our tourney now has an official announcement on FIBS-O-NACCI page:

All is well on the Eastern front.

Monday's Gladiatorial Challenge is now giving away Nacci Points to the winners. 100 points each week to the winners and even bigger prizes to those who win monthly and session titles.

This is a tremendous deal for Nacci players. You shouldn't miss the tournament if you are in FIBS-O-NACCI.

How many Naccis does juanz win for being the monthly champion Ali?

He won 300 NACCI pts last night, 100 for winning the weekly title and another 200 pts for gaining the monthly title and his account was credited with that huge amount today. Now he is well positioned to go for the points race in FIBS-O-NACCI. thumbsup

Abusive behaviour during the 5th round

Unfortunately, we witnessed abusive behaviour from ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER during the last night's MGC tourney. Here I first provide the related documnets and then will probe the issue. Any suggestion and proposal would be greatly appreciated, but please send them via 'private message', either in this forum or in FIBS.

1- Rude comments during the match

As can be seen in the tourney page in NACCI website, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER had been paired with stog in the 1/8 final round:

http://www.donzaemon.com/pyr/user/pyr/index.php?page=showBracket&tourneyid=1212427048

During their match, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER behaved in a manner that is truely abusive, rude, unfair and in contradiction with sportmanship codes. Here are the complete chat-logs :

Note: 'You' in the chats is stog.

Quote

You kibitz: Hi! gl from cumbria uk
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: hi again
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: fcfkit bigtime
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: fcking race 21
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says:  twice
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: 32
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: fckinhellish race
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: i hate dicegames
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: fckin sh**
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: always plying thiose fckin lucky guys in tour nament
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: fckit
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says:  stinking fck
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: hope you have gagged me
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: dont listen
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: oh fcking god
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says:  cfckin sh**
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: all those entrys against 5 point bord
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: fckuy fckuyi9u fcjkinnglhywfg,hvvbTREWTRYIUhv64457877####$$R%$YR^&
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: stinking fcking bastard dice
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: you dont deserve a sfcking win
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: zwaai is her e
You tell ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER: Thanks for playing.
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: i mentally collapsed
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says:  but dont drop
You tell ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER: np
You tell ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER: tis a fearful game s'times
ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER says: you were a 99%  underdog

As can be seen, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER was whining about the dice all the time which is enough bad, but rude comments targetting his opponent personally is definitely inexcusable. I have marked these with red.

This gets more frustrating when we analyze the match:

http://www.freewebs.com/persianlord/You_vs_ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER_20080601170845475.mat

A 2-ply analysis of the match shows that not even stog was not that '####ing lucky', but it was actually the very whining ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER himself who enjoyed a greater share of luck during the whole match:

Note: 'You' in the match is stog.

The only reason that ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER lost that match is simply the superior play of stog:

Nonetheless,I would like to provide a position in which stog (red) got a very lucky roll that actually changed the fate of the match:

I admit this is a lucky roll, but should I remind the very unlucky roll for stog in 17th move of the same game which forced him to leave 2 blots during the bear-off ( Position ID: 3dkAhDC+DQAAAA, Match ID: cIluACAAEAAA) ? Or should I remind the very next roll for ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER which enabled him to hit both checkers? (Position ID: vgIAAN3ZAIQwAA, Match ID : MAFlACAAEAAA)

Luck does play a roll in BG, and everyone get a same share of it in the long run.

2- Delaying moves on purpose:

After that lucky roll from stog which left no hope for recovering, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER began yet another abusive behaviour: 'delaying moves on purpose', apparantly in a heinous try to revenge. The unfair and deliberate delay was observed by both juanz and blotsalot.

3- Rude shouts

After much delay, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER resigned, but immediately afterwards began sending rude shouts. In one case, he called MGC a 'RIGGED dice tourney' and went on by being rude against DeaDice, who is the co-TD of MGC:

Quote

ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER shouts: THX==== Persion
L=== tell me please when the next RIGGED
dice tourney is on

Miccimalou shouts: oh l would like to be near you

Verdict

So far it has become obvious that ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER :

- Complained about dice in an infair manner

- Called his opponent a 'fucking lucky guy' and also told him that he doesn't 'deserve a ####ing win'

- Called MGC a 'rigged dice tourney'

- Insulted a co-TD of MGC

Well, if ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER really thinks that our tourney has rigged dice, he simply can avoid playing in it from now on. But insulting players and moderators is really intolerable. Because this was the first instance of abusive behaviour, ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER is not banned from taking part in the next rounds, but I really hope that he will not repeat this unfair behaviour anymore, as he promised. I would like to run MGC even with 4 players but with no abuse than with 16 players with this degree of unfair behaviour.

PS: As many may know, me and ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER were enemies until quite recently when we become friends and actually yesterday we withdrew our mutual complaints. Thus, this is really not a case that I might take revenge of him.

ZWAAISTAARTMEESTER  also chatted with me after the match and confessed that his behaviour was not true and that he gets upset too quickly. This takes a strong personality and I really hope he will act accordingly which he and his opponents deserve.

Regards

I would ignore such comments or put opponent on gag.  As long as the match was finished, no heinous crime was committed.   laugh

The long version: That would be an automatic ban if I were TD. I run tourneys for the pleasure of my "customers". I don't need people fouling the service that I provide by making it an unpleasant experience for any or all of the others. The subsequent apology could earn a second chance but only after I'd inquired into the nature of the offender's relations with others (which I may have witnessed or had direct experience of). If, as seems the case, the person was known to be unpleasant in other contexts then the apology would be taken with much scepticsm. If they had redeeming features (eg. positive contributions to Fibs or, even better, positive contributions to my Paypal account  laugh) then these would be taken into consideration but, without a sufficiency, the plea would be regretfully turned down.

The short version: No assholes!

I , hereby,  invite you to be a TD for FIBS tourneys! Please! I am sure all the remaining (or better said acting) TD's will help you with the job . Since you do it on PartyGammon, would be easy to do it here too.

There's a playBunny on PartyGammon? Or is it PlayBunny? Maybe they don't make a distinction in capitalisation and if not then, dang!, my name's been nicked. :-( Not that I'm anywhere near exploring what Partygammon's got to offer yet. I'm at too many sites already. Wink

Actually I would be interested in TDing at Fibs but then again I'd also be interested in writing a client, writeing a bot, adding a match archive and all sorts of way too ambitious things! The Bunny part of my name represents a nature that sees me hopping from one thing to another. Dailygammon gets the most out of me, though, I could do more if I wern't such a bunny. ;-)
