Title: install problem
Post by: wanderer on June 13, 2003, 11:08:11 PM
I once had 3dfibs running nicely on my pc....running windows xp.  suddenly it would freeze up whenever i tried to have it play against itself....(gnubg vs. gnubg)  So I decided to reinstall 3dfibs....i kept getting an error message telling me to install from the original download.  After searching for every instance of 3dfibs on my pc, i deleted everything.  Still...I got an error message.  So I decided to wipe out my hard drive and do a clean install of windows xp.  My first order of business then was to download 3dfibs..and upon trying to run the program, I get 'error loading settings......TABCTZ32 not correctly registered....file missing or invalid'.  I love the 3dfibs and want to play again....can someone help me please?

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this problem. I have uploaded a 2.2.290 verision of fibzip.exe that should correct the tabctl32.ocx issue.  I am really sorry about all these new errors. I will continue to fix them as fast as possible until everything is running smoothly again.

It must be my computer.  I tried to turn off my firewall, but that didn't help.  I was able to download it on another computer in my network.  Not sure why, but it worked.  My computer runs XP with Norton Internet Security. The other runs 98 with same.

Hi,

The error message you are getting is caused by a setting in your registry that saved the last location for the board.jpg that you used.

I will try to fix this in future updates so that it defaults back to what is installed.

For now, you can get around this error message by renaming a folder
(1) Find the folder called \"default\" in c:\program files\3dfibs\pics
(2) Rename \"default\" to -] \"black n blue\"

ONce you are past the error message, you can add the board theme that you like by adding folders into the pics folder as outlined in the board sections of this forum.

Hope this helps..
