Hitting on the bar point simply exposes too many return shots. bar/24 5/2* has it's allure since it only leaves 15 return shot and knocks the Herd off balance for a turn. But as gammons don't count and I'm ahead in the race I think it best to try to win going forward rather than attacking. Nine checkers in the zone is a bit weak for a blitz.
I like bar/21. Except for 11 22 44 & 42 (5 shakes) it's pretty safe, and those rolls are good for the Herd anyway. It slots a point I'd like to make, and poises me to leap or make an outfield point. bar/22 6/5 is a reasonable play as well, but I think I like the slightly more aggressive bar/21 better.
