Title: LAN Backgammon?
Post by: Stitch-Up on January 02, 2011, 04:09:31 PM
Hello all and happy new year to everyone.

Please excuse my first post being a question!

I haven't played backgammon for many years and was never very good. Anyway, way back then I had a peice of backgammon sofware that allowed me to play against my partner on our LAN (Local Area Network).

For Christmas we each had a Windows7 Slate - the EXOPC and I'd love to be able to play backgammon against my partner over the LAN. I've Googled for 'LAN backgammon' and many variants but of course Google displays links to those who pay them most for advertising, in this case, online casinos etc.

So, my question:

Does anyone know of a Backgammon software that will allow us to play over our LAN?

Many thanks

John

javafibs as client on each computer, using FIBS Server. --> search this site for more info --> Front page , left hand menu...

or go to the same room, sit down and face each other, with one real backgammon board between you, and a set of stones and dice -- no electricity required! and you can drink and talk and hurl dice, and shout -- even do cartwheels as the other throws a 'joker'

etc etc

I think you can use BGBLitz (http://www.bgblitz.com) for that
