Title: mistery at fibs
Post by: zakasax on May 14, 2004, 02:24:58 PM
This is what fibs replies me as soon as I invite players from the same country I'm playing from (Italy):

** you can't invite players from your own site.

It's been happening since one week or less...
Does anyone know what's going on???
Thanks in advance

I'd guess it's some sort of new anti-cheating thing Patti has done which is misunderstanding that users of the same ISP might be different people? You should email her about it.

is it site, or domain?
maybe she has seen too many cheaters from that domain?

I am staying with juggler at the moment, and we played a match from opposite sides of the kitchen table (just for fun), using the same connection, networked.  Only later did we realise this could have been misconstrued, but the point seems to be - there is no apparant selection on site, but it could be on domain. (or some thing similar that i dont understand, noodle is trying to explain, but i am coming over all dumb and blonde.....)

[noodle adds in his own words:] this problem wont be about site or domain at all!
unless you consider "site" the real life network in a building. site is used as another term for homepage, as well as domain is something between "www" and ".com".
if patti uses special administrative tools to block certain network activities e.g. people notoriously playing themselves thats it. maybe she overdid that. so specify technical terms if your not sure. [/noodle end]

you may see why i came over dumb and blonde (not to mention a little drunk!!)

But clearly this problem is a little complicated.
