Any show of support for these fine candidates would be appreciated.
My own opinion is that it should be someone very active on fibsboard, especially lately.

if the number of posts qualify someone to be a moderator, is this poll for me a joke. sorry to all who posts a lot here. this is not ment personally, but this canÃ,´t be the only qualification.

certainly not the only one, but if you care so little about fibsboard that you don't post much, you would hardly want to moderate it.
one might also assume a better moderator is one who visits regularly, else they would not be effective.

Now you are making the assumption that regular members are actually the ones that write a lot of posts, when in fact most regular visitors are lurkers. Furthermore moderators should be nearly invisible, anly performing their correctional tasks ;)

if you take the top ten of posters, you also should have a look on their personalitys. diane might be good moderator, but she already is busy with friday 3 and a lot of things i dont know. you might be a good moderator looking at your personal afford right now, burper.
vegasvic for me is someone who has fun here but i think he wonÃ,´t take too much responsibility.
hardy will take it, but i think he donÃ,´t have the time. as a captain of a ship, he won`t be available all times.
adamosad might be good.
dorbel also, except i think he is here to have fun and not to care about the personal probs people have.
to shades and tucsonAZ i cant say much at the moment.
tryout might take it serious but i doubt he want to do it.
don, in my opinion has to say a lot sometimes good things sometimes less. i have no personal problem with him, like some other fibsters, but i think his person, itself, has too many problems with others.

Shouldn't that be the job webrunner, socksey, Kari_Grandi and Tomawaky are already doing???

Without wanting to depreciate the work of the moderators ( ) here ... The linchpin of a forum are its posters, not its moderators. I think we need more serious and active posters here.

Serious?  On Fibs?    Although, dorbel hinted this evening that he might grace us here on Fibsboard with a serious bg column.   ^_^

Nice to be back, Webbie!   ;)   Had a great vacation but no place like home.

We do not need elections!!! Only volunteers are needed and then the site owner can choose between them!!!

When talking about the qualities of a new moderator, it might be useful to look at the actions of current and past moderators.  It's no secret that I've been banned from posting on this URL once and chastised many times for responding to what I perceive as insults and outright lies.  I have a reputation for being a target on FIBS, as well as here, when I seldom start things, and try to respond with truth and not insults.  I'm not saying I've NEVER started anything here, merely that I respond sometimes, and usually with logic.  For this, my comments have been nuked and editted without my wishes and beyond my meaning.  The controversies I've started as new threads have been generally off-topic in the original thread, but DO deal with FIBS and the insults of whatever original thread.

There seems to be a new policy here:  In a recent thread, two users chose to resort to insults about me in what was otherwise a serious discussion.  The moderator in this case chose to edit one user's post to remove the insults, and Bowdlerize my post with a bunch of 'x's.  The other user was ignored, since the post could stand alone as no insult, without the deleted info from the previous post.  Now I've been accused on FIBS of using obscene language by one of the (regrettably) most influentual users there because a moderator here chose to 'xxxx' a few words in a comment of mine that were far from obscene.  A real chuckle, eh?  For those of you who can guess the user, you can also guess the user's reaction to the truth.

I'm not sure I like the new policy: removing insults from the previous posts to which I refer.  In some ways it's better than the past policy in which they were simply ignored, in others it's deceit.  At the least there should be a bunch of 'x's in at least one post, to provide continuity to my special treatment.  All things considered, I prefer honesty.

My point is simply that whoever is a moderator here needs to be objective, reasonable, and thoughtful.  I'm sure whoever editted my post had no intention of providing ammo to the worst of FIBS.  For that matter, a moderator needs to be responsible and willing to admit mistakes, and that's something I've not seen here.  Willingness to volunteer time here is not enough, and popularity is not enough.

Hoping that the censors of FIBSboard find a thread on moderators an appropriate place for this,

long live FIBS!

That has always been my goal, however, unfortunately, there is no pleasing everyone.
