Title: WikiPedia wins 'best community' webby
Post by: burper on May 13, 2004, 02:49:08 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page)

This makes me think of several ideas:

-someone should start a chouette page
-someone should start a fibs page
-the new server at fibsboard should host a fibs wiki :)
-what about a backgammon game wiki, where each page has a set of links to each of the next possible rolls/moves!

I understand that your link is a free and open encyclopedia, so needs some additional entries linked to FIBS and backgammon. But I don't get this part:
Quotea backgammon game wiki, where each page has a set of links to each of the next possible rolls/moves

Surely a backgammon game with all possible links for the next move ends up having zillions of pages?! and why place this in an encyclopedia?

I was thinking about starting a wiki on the new server.
That way everone can start their own website on this domain.
So i was already ahead of you. I am reviewing scripts as it is.

I'll keep you posted in this thread.
First i have got to get the new server going.

First, I don't mean in the encylopedia, I mean on the fibsboard wiki, should it ever exist.

Second, I mean start a game at the beginning (first roll page) and add to it where ever you think is interesting and see how far you get. Maybe it never gets past the openers? Maybe limit it to a 1 point1? match (no cube). Remember, with a wiki, anyone can add to it. Over time, maybe it's gets quite large.

Maybe it is better to have a cubeful money match game, which would have many deadends at double/drops. In any case, there would be lots of dead-ends in the game-tree because many moves are certainly stupid and noone would pursue them.

Just a silly idea I guess.
