Hi all, new to forums, hoping someone can point me in the right direction on info about how the ELO system works, specifically to BG as I tried wiki page, but seemed mostly chess based (and didn't make a great deal of sense lol)

I'm very curious as I just played a Sit N Go on Gammon Empire, 4 players in games to 3 points, and won it beating first player we had a 1600, and second player who has a whopping 1865...now I'm a newby and went backwards from starting point, so started on 1475, and that's the same rating I'm still on

I would have thought beating those two players would give me a solid ratings boost???  How does it all work?

Thanks for your time

:)

Especially confused as I just picked up 2 points from beating someone in single cash games who is ranked lower than me...do you just no get ratings points for SNG games, or is Gammon Empire just screwy?

This forum is geared toward FIBS, First Internet Backgammon Server found at fibs.com.  There is explaination there on how Fibs ratings work.  All sites are not the same.  I'm not sure how Gammon Empire works since I've never played there.  Fibs is the best I've found, so far.     Come check us out, and, if you do, and if you're on a computer, the best playware to download is javafibs.  Javafibs is viewed by most as being the best.   ;)

I don't know how Gammon Empire works. This page explains how elo ratings work on FIBS and most servers for match play http://www.bkgm.com/faq/Ratings.html#introduction

As I said above, Fibs is the best I've found and I've played on plenty of the other internet backgammon sites.
