As I suggested before, I think there should be two categories.  One for tech support, and one for popularity.

One night at Cheers, Cliff Clavin explained the "Buffalo Theory" to his buddy Norm "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this. A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.  Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells.  But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.   In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine!  That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

QuoteI think there should be two categories.  One for tech support, and one for popularity.

The fibsie was always supposed to be about contribution to fibs in one way or another. Unfortunately, the nominating process has kinda lost sight of that, and it was certainly never supposed to be about popularity.
Whilst I think I can see merit in different categories of contribution, it strikes me then  the whole thing gets a bit serious and beyond the simple method of saying thx to people it started out as - not to mention more work for those setting it up - mind you, you could take of that side of it now  ;)

I'm a little curious after reading posts from diane and socks to know if there are any rules I haven't seen for a FIBSie award nomination, and whose nomination they are objecting to.

Vote for Joe!

The original discussion behind the Fibsie award started here..

Fibsie awards

I did not object to any nominations (and nor did socksey) - people are free to nominate whoever they choose (except themselves) - and then hopefully the voters make sense of those nominations  ;)

But I do think some of the nominations made across the months miss the point just a little  :P

If the Fibsie award is about saying thanks to people for their contribution to FIBS, then I suggest that, at this moment of time, there is nobody we should express our thanks to more than Joe Tamargo.  Joe is a very special guy who adds a very special flavor to FIBS.  If I were in contention here, I would decline any votes for me and suggest that people vote for Joe.

Vote for Joe!

I voted for burper.  Repbot was his creation and one of my favorites, and a most helpful contributions to fibs, even if it has been abused by some!

When a building is considered to be structurally unsound, sometimes the flawed areas can be repaired. But sometimes the damage is so severe that the entire structure must be torn down and a new one built in its place. - unknown

You only have to have been around a while this last week or so to see how missed it is - to know how valued it is by many many fibsters.

We need a few more votes for Joe here!  Joe's contribution to FIBS is a state of mind, a sense of irrational rationality.  There is no argument to Joe's contributions, as there are to, say, RepBot.  The timing is right.  We need to vote for Joe now to show Joe our support!

Vote for Joe!  I wonder how many people would change their votes, given the current information?

You probably peeked at the results.
Peeking is allowed but registers a null-vote because your choice will be influenced by the results.
(it says so on the result button)
