I have downloaded 3Dfibs and make it work, so it connect me to fibs - as far as I can tell. But I don't show up on the playerscreen - how comes ?

Sometimes it takes a while for you to show up.
A refresh mostly works.
I always add myself to the friends list so i don't have to scroll through the whole list to see my own details.

Hi,

Here is a post from April 2003 when this problem first showed up. It went away for a while but alas seems to have returned. It apparently only seems to affects the newer clients. Older clients show the full list. Since this is an issue with the serv er, there is not anything that I am aware of that i can do on the client end. One suggestion from the backgammon newsgroups was to set the sort command to show highest ratings first.

\"set sortwho rrating\"

This will at least show the top of the list at login.

ONe could also toggle the ready status command to force the server to send a line to the client which will make the your own name to appear on the list.

The problem with this bug is that it somewhat defeats the friends list function at login which is unfortunate.

So.. to sum up, I would advise all 3dfibs users to toggle ready at login and advise anyone with the same problem to do the same. Once the server detects a status chance, the name will appear on the list. Use the sort command to show the higher rated players first.

Hi Fibsters, (april 2003)

A recent FIBS server upgrade has had the unfortunate side effect of causing some clients to show an imcomplete player list at login. The server administrator (Patti) is aware of this problem and is taking action to fix it.
One way to work around this problem is to log on 10 - 15 minutes before you are ready to play, minimize the window (do something else) and come back. By this time, most current users will have had a status change (ready, playing, not ready etc) which should make the name appear on the player list. To immediately check the status of a specific user, use the \"whois username\" command.

Actually the newsgroup article suggests the following commands to be sent to the fibs server

set sortwho rating
who
set sortwho rrating
who

This will cause fibs to send the top of the list first, then to send the bottom half of the list. This will show most of the names.

Add the commands to the auto kibitz file to avoid repetitive typing.

re: update ver (2.2.293)

These commands have now been incorporated into the \"refresh\" menu item of the player list context menu. To use this fix, simply right click the player list and select \"refresh\" a few times to get the full list at login.

Thanks to Cthulhu (JavaFibs author) for his suggestions and newsgroup post on how to work around this FIBS sever bug.
