 Hallo there, it's years I play on FIBS, after thousand of matches I have a question:
is the dice generator really randomized? I find really strange that for more or less one week everything goes smooth winning easily without any effort helped by blessed dices and the week after I can't win a match even again nobody, appearing impossible no matter how I play, just the other one have ever the right dices at the right time. It looks even more evident when playing against bots anytime. I'm getting mad through dices and pieces  or there's something more about the dice generator that I don't know? It looks like a wave, a cycle more than genuine random events.

Can someone tell me if feels the same or make some light on it?
Thanks
Ciao

This topic has been done to death, here is an article from a few years ago on another backgammon forum - go read it and see if you can improve on it...http://www.bkgm.com/rgb/rgb.cgi?view+262.  Every crummy or miracle roll I have seen on fibs, I have also seen with my precision dice in real matches.  That is the nature of luck, live with it or go play chess.

This is another interesting article http://www.math.columbia.edu/~zare/luckequity.html, and if you are still aggrieved - fill in this form and submit it - all sections to be completed mind...http://www.bkgm.com/rgb/rgb.cgi?view+546

gulp, don't be ridiculous. the dice here are perfectly random

While the dice generation is as perfect as any pseudo random algorithm may be the very nearly perfect random dice have been superceded by the now widespread use of dicebot.

Padski's referral is quite appropriate!   :whoea:

Seriously, long ago a discussion in shouts with Patti ended in the conclusion that the dice are random fixed, meaning they do repeat after eons of rolls maybe.  At least that has been my lasting impression.  Hope this helps.   :)

Lolll!!!!
Ok.. got it. So maybe I need a tutor in a short time..
But so luck is a wave? I am lucky one week and unluck the next? Uh! It could be useful in everyday's life. Was thinking more at a single event once lucky or unluck..
Ok, so I'll wait for big things next week..
;)

I don't understand this discussion.  What do random dice have to do with Chess?

 B) all I can add is my own observations. Doubles follow doubles regularly , same dice follow regularly. 'luck' does seem to go in cycles- i.e. A winning streak when the dice bot is kind to you is followed by a losing streak when the dice bot is doing its utmost to ruin any chance you had of making a decent play. From what i have read and seen i am of the school of thought that its what you do with the 'luck' that counts. You can use it wisely or waste it.
Bots are another matter i do not wish to get into here, i will keep my views on them to myself.
A good quote i read ' luck is never mentioned by gentlemen'
Rickochet on Fibs. Converted from mobile odesys to 3d fibs on pc.

Then my opponent must be a gentleman. He didn't mention luck at all, he just said "Stupid dice!". :D

Yup, by definition a winning streak ends with a losing streak and vice versa

... except when it just peters out and you go from strong wins or losses to a mixed up pattern without enough consistency for anything to be called a streak, rating going more or less horizontally. ;)
