Well no-one else created one.

Any thoughts on the tournament so far?

Some contentious issues - the ball, the vuvuzelas, and general stuff.

All comments welcome, as no one mentions the word 'Green'

Some musings from some friends on the latest England game....

QuoteWhat an absolute shower of f**k**g s**t.....that was the worst game of football I have seen and I have watched West Brom many times..........

Quotewhat a bunch of muppets

QuoteJust checking through my family tree, must have some other distant relatives from a country that can play football!

QuoteDisappointed. Not worth getting out of bed for.

Quoteoh dear, words fail me....

Quote"Never has so much been owed by so few to so many!"

Quotewhat a load of bollox!!!!!! Come on England sort it out!!!!!

QuoteThree Kittens On The Shirt.......

QuoteWhat is worse? The performance or Gareth Southgate's shirt?

QuoteCannot compare, you see Southgate obviously has no taste but his awful shirt is still technically a shirt. That 'performance' was no performance by any stretch...

QuoteBooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

QuoteSummed up by a 7 year old girl sitting next to me  "I can play better than them!"

QuoteID TAKE ROONEY OFF AND PUT GREEN ON HE CAN PUT IT IN THE NET

QuoteI'm completely unimpressed, over-paid, over-rated bunch of useless twats, not saying I'd be any better but for christs f-in sake put a bit of soul into it, a nation expects u to deliver or don't bother coming home!

QuoteOoooo, oooo almost got within 20ft of the goal, don't expect any Dunkirk spirit girls, there'll be no rescue mission to pick you up when it all goes wrong, you can swim.

I don't think I have anything to add....

Yep England with their Red-Cross-like flags looked as if it needed the Red-Cross so save them last night

Disapointing match. Perhaps a lucky goal at the beggining would have changed the whole game, but then again who would be more likely to get it ;) I heard an Algerian got the votes for best player last night, no?

garp_02

As a Scot, one has to have a slight chuckle  ;)

RickrInSF

wow, i think the english team better not go home!

Yvon

Holland was the first to make it to 16 already. Traditionally a strong team...
I expect the match between Denmark and Japan to be a killer one, what do you think guys?

garp_02

Congrats to England for progressing and to USA for topping the group - should mean a less hazardous next match if Germany win, as expected, tonight.

What happened to Les Bleues?  Shock of the tournament so far.

The South American nations have been by far the most exciting so far and glad to see Uruguay and Mexico progressing. Shame Mexico have to meet Argentina next - but should be a cracking game.

An odd day here in the states.

First, the USA Soccer team goes undefeated in round one, winning their group outright.

Then there was the earthquake, felt all around the Great Lakes.

What next?  I'm half expecting monkeys to fly out of my butt.

RickrInSF

What's next? next is watching germany and usa breeze thru to the finals. but if those monkeys do fly, can you take pictures? after they r out of course, b4 that would be gross.

ah_clem

Update:  Well, I made it through the day without encountering any flying monkeys, but a tornado did touch down about ten miles south of here.  Earthquakes, tornados, and a heartstopper World Cup win.  What a day.

The USA can be thankful for that goal differential, as we now play Ghana, and if we survive that we play the winner of Uraguay vs South Korea.  The English team has to play Germany and maybe go on to face the winner of Argentina vs Mexico.  I'll take our schedule any time.

garp_02

Oh well, bye bye USA and England - both deserved exits to be honest

On a more serious note -

The UK Weather Centre has issued a flood warning for Northern England.

They say this is due to the fact that everyone in Scotland is pissing themselves laughing

*small, desolate chuckle*

Yes, England didnt deserve a win there - they looked like a bunch of outsmarted old men on that field. Beaten 4 times by exactly the same goal...they couldnt catch the Germans when they ran from one end of the pitch to the other.. but still kept all piling up to the other end to try to score.  I have no heart to bemoan the disallowed goal - it was another nail in already built, polished and good to go coffin..

They should have won the USA match, and the group and taken it from there - every time we go the hard route, due to a lacklustre start.

I have never questioned the coach before - always feeling the players were good and that something else was missing, but this year I seriously question that line up taken to SA.  Rooney was clearly not fit - others were not fast enough.  The few that could play were just too thinly spaced out in a mediocre team.

Ahh well, next time maybe..good luck Germany - those boys rocked and were seriously cute  ;)  Oezil -

Germany have been brilliant and thoroughly deserve to win it

All of my favorite teams have been eliminated (Italia, Argentina, Portugal, Greece, US). Now I support Spain and really hope they will win the trophy this time.

Go Germany - the best team in the finals by far (so far).

Let's hope they entertain us some more tonight :)

*Sigh*...bye bye Oezil....GO Holland!!
