When playing backgammon, it often happens that you or your opponent keeps on rolling really lucky rolls, for example winning complitely lost race with several double sixes when the other player rolls 2-1 three times a row. (Yeah I've seen that.) But that's nothing compared what I just read.

There is this women who has won lottery 4-times! http://b4tea.com/news/joan-ginther-luckiest-women-won-4-texas-lotto
It makes absolutely no sense at all. Even if she bought lottery ticket every week It shouldn't have happened. Even if the whole population of earth would have bought lottery ticket every week for the past 50 year, it shouldn't be even close to happen. And yet it did.

On the other end we have the legendary lightning rod guy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Sullivan

These stories really make we wonder. Seing six doubles on row is nothing compared to them.

Ever watch people buy lottery tickets?  Few buy one a week.  They buy 5 to 10 at a time, sometimes more.  Granted, it's still highly improbable,  but there are lots of improbable things and we only notice them when they happen, not when they don't.

For instance, if I flip a coin 32 times in a row, no matter what sequence of heads and tails comes up the result is a highly improbable one-in-four-billion chance.

  Gosh, that is an eyeopening thought..

I buy one every now and then...and always figured 1 will do, it is either my turn or it isnt...I suppose on that logic, I should expect to find one in the street if it is my turn  ;)
