mano is considering a tournament which requires players to submit their photo for a tourney webpage, this has got me wondering about other ideas for tournaments. Some of these may not be workable, especially if you want to use TourneyBot, but just to brainstorm...

-Doubles tournaments, players create new joint nicks and discuss moves together
-Olympics tournament, teams but only one per county
-Tri-server tournaments playing three matches-- one each on FIBS, DailyGammon, GamesGrid (3ptr max for freebie accounts)
-Old fogeys touranment, min experience 5000, or even 10000! (idea from DailyGammon)
-Advanced vs beginners with handicaps, something like 1700+ players must resign one point before starting a 3ptr against -1500 players
-Relay tournament, when you win you must find another player to take your place in the next round
-FIBS shouts debate tournament (no backgammon involved!): topics are chosen and each opponent has only 3 mins to make their case. A wide range panel of judges scores each debate!

Well, strip backgammon is an obvious one. To enter, you have to post a picture with up to 10 articles of clothing on. Win or lose, you keep playing in each round, but if you lose, you have to send in another picture with one article less. If you fail to do so, you're out. To win, you would need a killer combination of backgammon skill and shamelessness.

I don't even own 10 items of clothing ??

:P

But serious.. do socks count as one or two items??

Pairs of things count as 1, so to get 10 you might have on:
1-undies bottom
2-undies top
3-socks
4-pants
5-shirt
6-shoes
7-coat
8-gloves
9-hat
10-scarf

Seriously, it could be fun. We'd have to come up with some rules for pictures though, like what resolution, that it has to be in focus, that you have to be completely in the frame of the picture, that you have to occupy at least half of the picture, and that you can't have anything else between you and the lens but your remaining clothes.

I'm not convinced I want to see many of the women on here either...

I was thinking about running a joke tourney.  In order to register you have to tell a joke (and it better be funny).  If you win your match you need to tell another joke to go on to the next round.

Just something stupid to keep it fun.  :D
