Congratulations webrunner!!!
webbie felt so good about winning the June '04 Fibsie, that he decided to get married!
I never meant for those kinds of things to happen, but at least we finally have a winner around to receive the award.

The nominations for the July 2004 Fibsie award are now open. The Fibsie award is given to the individual or group for outstanding contributions to the fibs community. An individual or group may only receive the Fibsie once, so it is actually like a fibs community hall of fame. Past recipients include:

1. April 2004: marvin
2. May 2004: Kit and Sally Woolsey
3. June 2004: webrunner

Post your nomination and justification in this thread. You may not nominate more than once, but your nomination may be for a group rather than an individual. You may not nominate yourself. Voting will begin on the 15th of June, or as soon as the nominations are full (10). Watch this space.

I like the idea of giving out Fibsie's to people who are away. That way they don't get too embarassed with all the excitement that the Fibsie voting process involves:

Here's to MadMatt, who gave us all TourneyBot. It's difficult to find anyone that disagrees that this has revolutionized the way backgammon is played on fibs, has brought people closer together, and been even more fun than Shuggie's sister!! Now how many things can you say that about? I know he has worked very hard on it, and has chosen to open source the code too, taking nothing for his work other than many compliments and the good feeling that comes with a job well done.

One of the best things that I love about TB, is that it allows fibsters to serve fibsters, by creating the role of a tourney moderator. With this tool, people with little technical skill can run tourneys, and help many other fibsters have fun in the process. It's like a little good-karma engine for the whole damn community!!!

Thanks Mat!

I'd like to nominate Patti. She's been quietly hosting the server and keeping it running for the vast majority of its record breaking 12 years.

When I was having people vote on the different T-shirt designs she shouted that I was being too democratic. At the time I couldn't see that, but later people started giving me a very hard time for the differences between the final design and SlickWill's vote winning one (which couldn't be printed for technical reasons). I now think she's right, if you listen to people too much then they'll start making absurd demands (like a certain disgruntled TourneyBot player). But if you want something to work and keep working you may just have to play the unpopular role and get on with it regardless of others.

Her handling of many things totally baffles me, or worse, but hey the server keeps on running. Patti is a tough character, but considering the range of FIBS personalities that is what's needed. As they used to say in the 70s: keep on truckin'!

Everybody thank you very much for the Fibsie!
I would like to thank some people who made this possible for me:
First..... Just kidding!

I must say i am very flatered by this, but i think there are people who did more for Fibs then me. So i would like to nominate two of them. I know only one is allowed but since i am the winner i hope we can make an exeption here.

First i would like to nominate Alef again, for all the same reasons as i nominated him the last three rounds.

The second one is Burper, who in my opinion is a very underrated member of this community. Let me do a little showdown of what he has done:
1. He is a very active player for years and years.
2. He created Repbot, a great tool and community builder.
3. He is the most active member of Fibsboard
4. he is creating and currently testing chouettebot, a new bot that enables us to play chouettes on fibs.
5. He is developing a Gui for Tourneybot
6. He is developing the Fibs companion local proxy
7. loads more that i probably forgot....and some things i know of but can't mention just yet ;)

You guys keep up the good work!

If you aren't allowed more than one, web, then I want to nominate the other one.  Both these fine gentlemen deserve a heap of credit.  Only problem is, which one I vote for!     Maybe, I'll just vote for Patti this time.   Or maybe not.   :(

Biggles

I'd like to nominate souptree.  In the face of mass hysteria that often erupts around FIBS about the important things going on in the world, he's the voice of reason.  He always backs up his statements with solid facts and documented references.  When others simply want to whine and complain for no apparent reason, our beloved souptree always steers them back onto a solid course.

God Bless souptree.......Well done.

Shouldn't we nominate hypnosa? She'll probably need something to make her feel better after she has realized what she's gotten herself into.

Just so there's no possibility of taking my last post seriously, congrats to webrunner and hypnosa! May you two share a long and happy life together.

Speaking of which.....webrunner can you please let hypnosa out of bed so that I can play her in the postcard tourney?  Give the poor girl a break!

I know it was a joke silly  ;)
Bit thanks for those kind words :)

SlickWill

I strongly support alef's nomination!
He is invariably polite, objective and sharp as a tack, wise in his decisions and has worked for many years in different aspects benefiting the community and making FIBS a better place.
There are others that greatly deserve the award, yet alef's above mentioned qualities get much ahead on my nomination.

diane

Does this poll get opened - or does webbie get the last ever fibsie?
Never give up on the things that make you smile

webrunner

Actually it is Burper who always did that.
