Title: Cannot see tourney players without registering
Post by: amarganth on June 19, 2004, 06:04:07 PM
Hi there

I have a question about the "players"-command of tourneybot. Example:
tourney 772
Displaying information about Tourney 772:
|772: [bracket] socksey's sexy saturday partaaay tourney (only sexy persons need apply)| |Sat, 19 Jun 04 16:17 UTC| |Directors: socksey| |Status: Signing up!|
TourneyBot says: Min players: 4 Max players: 32 Registered players: 9 (23 spots left)
...
Done displaying information on Tourney 772.

Now, I like to see the players already registered, before I register:
players 772
You're not registered for socksey's sexy saturday partaaay tourney (only sexy persons need apply) (Tourney #772).

If I'm registered, all works fine and I get a list of the players. Is it necessary to register, to get a list of all players or is it a bug?

In the description of the "players"-command I cannot see restrictions:
Syntax
tell TourneyBot players <tourney>

Description
Lists all players who've registered to play in the specified tourney

Thanks in advance

Yes - you need to be registered to see the playerlist - the idea being that your decision to enter is not affected by the people who have already entered.

dropout?
How?
Many times, (at least once), my scheduled opponent has informed me that they have dropped.
I've sent messages to director (jinnate) , but to no avail.
See, for example, tourney 427
TIA for the info.

On the fibsboard home page http://www.fibsboard.com (http://www.fibsboard.com), there is a TourneyBot link http://tourneybot.fibsboard.com (http://tourneybot.fibsboard.com), which has a link to the command reference http://tourneybot.fibsboard.com/reference.html (http://tourneybot.fibsboard.com/reference.html).

In that, the dropout command http://tourneybot.fibsboard.com/tourneyref.html#dropout (http://tourneybot.fibsboard.com/tourneyref.html#dropout) says that "Currently you can only do this before the tourney's been started."
