 I have just been gagged by a person whom I have played with several times in the past. We've vouched for each other and I had never seen him lose his temper..... until today!

I thrashed him . Two games in a row. None of it was really due to any skill on my part, mostly ridiculously 'lucky' fibs dice ;).

THere was talk of playing for the beauty of the game of backgammon :inlove: versus playing for points  . THere were accusations of playing with a knife on the table  :o  instead of just playing for the fun of it. "real friends don't double'!

And the next thing you know, I'm found guilty of being 'unfriendly' and am gagged.:(

So you see hypnosa, even though you HATE the dice, you've got a long way to go before it really really gets to you like this poor fellow.
I hope he makes up with me :lovenest:

:D

Oh well, yes, I agree... Yesterday I played a match with absolutely ridiculous dice... I'm still wondering that gnu didn't crash afterwards :P  The Luck corrected result was +44% instead of the -50% you get for a loss.... Never had that before...

Oh well, holy dice god, pls forgive me!

Great icons, Matty!

There's a hilarious 70s book called "Backgammon for Blood". The title has always stayed with me since clearly bg isn't particularly a friendly game. To do well you need to really kick your opponent when they're down and go after gammons. And it definitely messes with your ego since you can play nearly perfect and still lose a series of matches to a much weaker opponent.

In money play, staying calm through bad patches is a huge part of surviving. Most bg hustlers keep a lookout for bad steamers and then play them through the night!

The best thing you can do after a bad losing streak is just take a break.

QuoteFrom www.bkgm.com glossary

Steam
To lose control and be prone to bad checker plays or reckless cube decisions, perhaps as a result of a series of unlucky dice rolls. This may become a self-reinforcing situation: as the bad plays accumulate, the steamer views the resulting bad positions as more evidence of unfairnes

Today  I  :puke: on dices, then I felt  ,   but still   FIBS.

( wasn`t me that played with Matty!!)

Friends don't double?  I guess friends don't also overhead smash the ball in tennis, hit home runs in baseball, spike the ball in volleyball, etc.  My reply to anyone who said that woud be "I didn't realize you wanted to play a practive game.  Next time tell me and we won't play for points."

Here are some smiley faces so I don't feel left out.      :puke:  :hungry:

hypnosa

Well, that is a very good point there Alef  :P
I am defenately a steamer
Sometimes when I feel agressive, I just hit everything I can
and double at stupid moments, I realise that! But it can be fun
too I must admit  :D

Try Carolina Blue - he is always drunk :)
Unfortuantely it doesnt seem to afect his game much !!
Never give up on the things that make you smile

^_^ Carolina is one of my first and best friends from FIBS and we use to play sometimes, despite of the time of the day. And he`s a social drinker, as I am. ;) . Getting back to the track, I experienced more good/lucky rolls when I play in the morning rather then playing in the evening :(
